How should Active Edge concentrated juices be stored?

We do not add any chemical or other preservatives to our concentrated juices.  We (and our customers) prefer to keep the juices as natural as possible.  Therefore, ALL Active Edge concentrated juices should be stored refrigerated (open and unopened) to keep them in optimum condition (as per the storage instructions on the product).  They are okay to be transported (eg via courier) unrefrigerated, but please pop them in the fridge when they arrive.  NB  You can also store them in the freezer!  They won’t freeze solid, just go very thick.  This will preserve their properties for even longer.

Can I take Active Edge® products during pregnancy?

The Active Edge® Team are not medically trained, so cannot prescribe or recommend our products for any conditions. Active Edge® products are made from 100% natural ingredients and are classed as food (the capsules are classed as food supplements).  Many pregnant consumers have taken Active Edge® products without any reported problems. As with all matters such as this we recommend that you consult your Doctor or other healthcare provider for specific nutritional advice.

What is the process used in making Active Edge® concentrates?

Although processing methods may vary slightly between each processing plant where our concentrates are manufactured, typically the processing begins with the washing and sorting of the produce to ensure the raw produce is cleaned and graded for use. The fruit or vegetable is then placed in an extractor to separate out the juice by applying physical pressure.

The juice is then spun in a centrifuge at a high speed to filter out fragments of pulp. This is achieved as the refined juice is pushed out of the front of the machine through the inner basket whilst the larger pulp fragments stays inside the machine. We do not use any ultrafiltration and some batches of our concentrates may contain some natural sediment which can collect at the bottom of the bottles.

The juice then passes through an evaporator, which typically concentrates the product in a series of smaller steps. This helps minimise the heat that must be applied to the juice, protecting the colour and flavour. Evaporators operate at low pressure, allowing the water component to be evaporated more readily at lower temperatures, again to minimise the effects of the processing on the quality of the juice.

Why do I notice sediment in some batches of Active Edge® Concentrates?

Active Edge® fruits and vegetables are harvested at their peak, normally during July/August and during processing some batches may have sediment which settles in the bottle. Variances in taste and color may also occur. Since Active Edge® products have no artificial colours or sweeteners, these variances may be noticeable in the product and it is not abnormal for the product color to darken with time. This is a natural process and in no way affects the efficacy of the product.

Should I mix Active Edge® concentrates with something? What can I mix it with??

Some people prefer the drink Active Edge® concentrates undiluted ("straight"), however most people prefer to mix it with water or juice. We recommend a ratio of 30ml of juice 1 serving) in 250 ml of water or other beverage. Active Edge® concentrates also work well added to natural yogurt or smoothies.
